No. The camp has a complete professional kitchen in which one can easily prepare meals for over 200 people. It has both a walk-in freezer and walk-in refrigerator, and is completely furnished with everything needed to cook and serve large groups. Personal utensils and meal trays are also provided, as well as over-sized beverage containers. You will probably want to bring your own spices, particularly if you plan to cook more exotic dishes. You might also consider bringing your favorite knives if really sharp cutlery is your forte.
Are there nearby stores where we can purchase food if needed?
Yes! Within a 20 minute drive you will find the following stores: Walmart, BJ’s, Aldi, Wegmans, and Byrne Dairy. Sysco will also make deliveries to the camp. Oversized containers of dairy products, such as three gallon ice cream tubs, may be ordered and delivered to the local Byrne Dairy for pick up. Additional stores and specialty shops are close by in Geneva and Waterloo.

The camp provides an electric golf cart, walkie-talkies, a megaphone, large bell, and volleyball standards with net. Canoes are also provided for use at the waterfront, along with the requisite life preservers. All other sports equipment and supplies for activities need to be supplied by stakes. There are a few fans provided in the nurse’s infirmary, but otherwise you might consider bringing a fan or two for individual cabins during hotter summer months. A complete list of items supplied by the camp and those provided by stakes is included in the Camp Safety Plan.
What kind of medical supplies and facilities are provided by the camp?
The nurse’s office is stocked with all of the over-the-counter medications, first aid supplies, and CPR equipment normally needed. Yes. Further detail is provided in the Camp Safety Plan.
Is a waterfront lifeguard provided by the camp or must we provide one for our Young Women camp?

What kinds of activities are available at the waterfront?

What is the role of the full-time missionary couple serving at the Seneca Lake Camp as Missionary Camp Director? What is the relationship between the Missionary Camp Director and stake young women camp leaders?
The Missionary Camp Director has the responsibility for supervising and operating the Seneca Lake Camp in a safe manner, and is responsible to ensure the compliance of Young Women camps with New York State Health and Safety requirements. This includes implementing the Seneca Lake Camp Safety Plan and providing adequate supervision to ensure that campers are protected from any unreasonable risk to health or safety. In contrast, the Stake Camp Program Director is responsible for organizing and carrying out a stake Young Women camp program during their week at Seneca Lake. The Stake Camp Director is responsible to support the Missionary Camp Director in ensuring the compliance of their stake's camp session with New York State Health and Safety requirements.

Yes! Beautiful open fields and lawns abound throughout the camp. Some are very close to cabins and the central recreation-dining hall, and some are available in more remote areas.
Are their hiking trails in the wilderness forest area? May we camp in the forest?
Yes! There are wonderful trails throughout the forested areas of the camp. The camp is large enough that extended hiking requirements may be met with a little planning. Sampson State Park is just a few minutes away for additional hiking areas if desired. The wilderness camp area provides space for small-tent camping similar to a back-packing environment. |
